When in deconstruction mode, I find the rapidly blinking border all around the screen pretty distracting.

I am guessing that this is to give the player feedback along the lines of: "Hey, you are now in deconstruction mode, pay attention to where you point this thing."

But as it is now, it feels like it is screaming this feedback. Instead of gently reminding me.

In my opinion it would be nicer to forgo the blinking, and have a simple solid orange border around the screen. This will still give the same feedback, without it trying to get in the foreground as much.

This is pretty true, I feel you on this subject, I too feel like it's pretty annoying. I do not know why it is there, but if it has a purpose, could anybody then please give an explaination as to why the orange pulsating border is there?
