If the player is standing on a ramp that's on a foundation, allowing us to build off the sides of that foundation (without needing to stand on the very edge of the ramp) would allow us to continue to build long ramps down.

Work around, is to build double ramp going down.

Left ramp, place foundation under it  and foundation for the right side. Place ramp for the next step down, then to the right of first ramp (If not, you are back to the same issue as with single ramp down). Repeate.
