Batteries for power storage, charging when excess power is available, and discharging back to the grid when there is a shortage. Basically for power-smoothing. Also could make solar and wind power viable later on.

Transformers or isolators could have 2 power poles, basically an input and an output. These can be used to isolate sections of factory from grid, with smart tier isolators set to cut power earlier if grid overloaded, allowing wider grid to stay online. Programmable tier isolators could additionally be set up to cycle power on and off in intervals, to allow factories to be powered in sequence, or be powered only on demand.
